The majority of young girls will look at this and feel awe-inspired. Aww! A cute boy thinks I don't need make-up or cool clothes in order to be deemed "beautiful." And although this picture could be targeted towards those girls who only wear make-up and "cute" clothes in order to impress the male gender, and although the guy appearsto have good intentions, I would just like to address the issue at hand here.
From my experience with males who have told me the same exact thing, it came off as super narcissistic. Oh, you're wearing that outfit to impress me. You wear make-up everyday so you can "catch my eye."
I beg to differ. I wear the make-up I wear everyday (intense cat-eye, thick eyebrows, vibrantly dark lipstick) because I enjoy the vintage 50's glamour Vogue aesthetic. I wear the clothes I wear because it expresses my mood as well as I who I want to be for the day. If I wanted to impress anyone, I would honestly put on mascara and clear lipgloss, throw on a floral shirt with a pair of high-waisted shorts, slip into a pair of Uggs, and call it a day. Because that's what a lot of people wear here. Not me. That's not what I'm into.
Also, I think the message that boy is sending hinders girls from expressing who they are. You don't have to wear make-up. You don't have to wear nice clothes.
And like I mentioned, dude prooooobably has good intentions.
But that guy will more than likely MORE THAN LIKELY (not saying I know him or anything but okay some guy who says shit like "Don't wear makeup!! You're beautiful!!") talk shit about any girl who approaches him wearing sweats with NO make-up on. That's the hypocrisy of it all. A girl wears make-up and tries to appear presentable by wearing clothes that are not Victoria's Secret Pink yoga pants, she's an attention whore. But a girl who doesn't try as hard is automatically considered lazy or homely.
So, those are my thoughts. I'm sick of people telling me I don't need makeup or cool clothes to be deemed attractive. I know that. The reason why I wear what I wear goes so much deeper than striving to look "cute." It's my style. Fashion is what I immerse myself in. Period.
And since that blog post was probably a little too negative, here's some humour for you.
